In June FDQ Magazine revealed their own special Gene doll "J'Adore"

J'Adore

Ltd. Edition 150

$600.00

While books inspire films and dolls, the dolls can also inspire the writer. FDQ cover girl, Gene Marshall, is an exclusive for the magazine. She is the second resin ball-jointed doll created by JamieShow with Mel Odom, and her very existence was inspired by something Pat Henry was reading. Dior, by Patrick Demarchelier, is a stunning coffee table book that she  received for Christmas two years ago. "The photography is so spectacular it thrills me every time I open the book. One of the reasons this particular book speaks to me is that both contemporary and vintage Dior fashions are shown on today’s most alluring models, like Karlie Kloss and Natalia Vodianova." When George Gonzalez of Angelic Dreamz told me he would be premiering this new resin incarnation of Gene, I thought immediately of the book and how this would be a doll deserving of Dior. George apparently thought so, too, as his doll, coincidentally, was to be wearing a Dior design. His elegant ice blue gown is the epitome of glamorous eveningwear, so I decided my Gene would be in daywear to complement his “Phoenix”.

"In order to create this very special ensemble, I immersed myself in  my books. I have at least a dozen on Dior alone, so after sorting through a myriad of old photos and new, I called on the perfect designer to make this idea in my head a reality on the doll."

Madra

"Spotted in Manhattan"

Ltd. Edition 150

$525.00

Madra Lord was accustomed to causing a scene wherever she went. She depended on it. So wearing a slinky, Dior-inspired gown of beige and ‘leopard’ was the logical choice for the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League of NYC. The impression was to be that she would be leaving the ladies of the League’s affair for a much dressier, much more entertaining function than theirs. At five o'clock she was to be notified by her assistant’s whisper that it was time to go, followed by her gracious apology at having to leave so soon and a fast line for the door. Madra Lord could stand only so much art. Madra Lord makes her comeback premiere to JAMIEshow dolls in this iconic dior look. Dressed in a off white silk dress with faux animal print, and a belt. Her heels are also made of animal print with one strap. Emerald green Swarovski crystal earrings, necklace and bracelet adorn her. Her wig cap is a red updo to compliment those fiery green eyes. She also comes with a hard cap for regular wigs, and a doll stand. She is the same skin tone as Gene and Grace from JAMIEshow. All JAMIEshow dolls are hand made and hand painted in our exclusive J-Resin. Madra is lovingly sculpted from the original sculpt by Mel Odom.

Violet Waters

"Satin Doll"

Ltd. Edition 50

$525.00

“Satin Doll” was the heading above the photo of Violet Waters on the posters announcing her nightclub appearance. The show had been named for the hit song, with it’s brand new lyrics by Johnny Mercer, as well as the satin-smooth voice of the lady in the spotlight: Violet Waters. Violet’s pale lavender, silk satin gown was the final claim to the title. Violet Waters makes her comeback premiere to JAMIEshow dolls in this iconic look. Dressed in a satin silk dress with peplum, with an violet in her updo rooted wig cap. She wears violet strappy high heel shoes and soft pearl earrings and necklace. She also comes with hard cap for regular wigs and a dolls stand. She is the Lena/Sabina skin tone from JAMIEshow. All JAMIEshow dolls are hand made and hand painted in our exclusive J-Resin. Violet is lovingly sculpted from the original sculpt by Mel Odom.

Gene Marshall "Holiday Gala"
December 2015
Edition 125 Price: $550.00

“Wow, a party at Miss Marshall’s house.  She’s a dream!   I’ve driven her many times for the studio.  What a sweetheart!  Not like some of these stars, noses in the air and no time for a friendly word.  Don’t get me started!!

I met her years ago when she’d just started at Mono, she was a terrified kid those first few rides.  She’d be sitting there where you are, shaking in her fur, with some studio Don Juan yapping in her ear.  She’d always have this dreamy smile on her face, like she knew something wonderful was about to happen.  And it usually did for her, kind of a charmed life.

Here we are, pretty house she lives in.   She always decks this place like it’s Christmas in Connecticut or something.  She’s a big kid if you ask me!  Please enjoy the party!  Tell Miss Marshall that Vito wishes her a Merry Christmas, and says thank you for the presents for my kids. “

Holiday 2015 brings us Mel Odom's Gene Marshall as our Holiday Gala.

Dressed in a hostess outfit consisting of a Silver and Lavender Damask bodysuit and a silk satin wrap skirt tied with a lovely diamond brooch at the waist.  Platform shoes and Fuchsia gloves.  Gene has beautiful blue eyes and a blonde rooted wig cap, fuchsia lips, nails and toes.  All served in a lovely dressing room box, with dressing table, stool and mirror, box converts to a wardrobe with two poles and comes with 4 hangers.  Doll stand included.

Zita Charles "Poised for Success"
January 2016
Edition 125 Price: $450.00

“Poised for Success” was a frothy comedy in which Zita Charles, in a comeback role, was once again allowed to run wild with her comic flair. As the widowed owner of a modeling agency, her character “Vera Swan” spends her days playing cupid and trying to find suitable husbands for the girls in her agency, so she can “retire with a clear conscious”.   Depending on the famous Zita Charles ‘light touch’, it was a delightful exercise in mistaken identities and fast-paced, drawing room comedy.  Zita effortlessly reminded the American public of just how much they’d been missing her.

Zita wears a pencil slim, navy suit, featuring a shell pink, shawl collar and cuffs over a cream blouse, self bowed at the neck.  Her navy and cream, spectator pumps also sport jaunty bows and a veiled, portrait hat completes the chic afternoon look.  Her titian hair is tied in a soft curl in back and features the famous silver streak that became the trademark of Zita’s comeback films.  It was her one concession to getting older on film.

Ivy Jordan "Heart of Gold"
January 2016
Edition 125 Price: $450.00

'Heart of Gold' began at Monolithic as a script entitled 'The Hard Way'.  It was handed from actress to actress within the studio. All declined the role, before Ivy Jordan saw something in it that piqued her interest.  A story about a hapless showgirl trying desperately to climb her way into respectability and a better life, 'The Hard Way' gave Ivy the chance she needed to break America's collective, heart.

Having grown up in show business herself, Ivy had met enough girls like 'Dorothy' to know all too well the bruised hearts and sore feet that come with the territory.  A title change and small re-write  'Heart of Gold' became the sleeper hit of 1943, giving Ivy her most acclaimed film role to date.  It was a chance for her to show the range of emotions she'd been denied in co-starring roles for too long, roles where she'd be called upon to spit out a clever quip with the precision of an archer and exit the room.  She made Dorothy the beating heart of a country at war, with a performance that touched anyone and everyone who had ever felt what it was like to struggle for a better life and love and a brighter future.

The film was a massive hit with audiences, who recognized themselves in Dorothy's plight, and when award season came around the following year, Ivy Jordan's 'Heart of Gold' matched the gleaming gold statuette handed her.

"Heart of Gold" is a slinky, textured gold lamé gown, pairing precision draping and sleek lines, with a daringly exposed torso and bare back.  With a wrapped bodice tapering into a dramatically flared skirt, Heart of Gold is paired with a versatile turban of the same lamé which may cover Ivy's chestnut brown wig cap or worn entirely on its own, over the included bald cap.   Dramatic hoop earrings and metallic gold leather dancing slippers are the highs and low-downs of this polished look.  Ivy has the new Lauren skin tone.
